As a specialist menopause and weight management dietitian, I’ve helped thousands of women like you to find strength during the menopause journey.
Women whose menopause weight seemed to appear overnight and has left them feeling like someone has snatched their confidence, their energy…and their body.
Maybe that’s exactly why you’re here.
You might even have the added panic of other health issues, like elevated blood pressure, cholesterol and/or blood sugars.
If any of that sounds familiar, can I share something with you?
Twelve years ago, perimenopause hit me too.
The frightening thing was that at the time, I had no clue what was happening to me. I had so many of the troubles that you might be experiencing right now.
Those terrible night sweats that leave your bedsheets soaked through.
The brain fog. The creaking joints that made me feel older than my years. Then there were the low moods and the zero energy (that left me struggling to keep up with family life). And wow, the irritability. I was trying to juggle my hectic career as a registered NHS dietitian, and I had a toddler and a baby to care for too. It should have been such a magical time for me. But instead, some days I just wanted to bite everyone’s head off! (Does that sound familiar?) And that wasn’t like me at all.
Balancing work with all of those symptoms felt tough.
And I still had no idea that this was perimenopause. I was just 42 years old. I was terrified I’d develop the heart disease and high blood pressure that runs in my family.
I started to question if the old me was ever coming back.
Even with all of my qualifications and experience, finding answers to these undiagnosed problems was a challenge. It drained so much of my time and energy, not to mention all that headspace.
Why weren’t there more experts who knew more about what I was going through? Instead, people kept insisting that I was just tired because I had two young children. The GPs were also confused. To add to my dread, they sent me for cancer screening. (which was thankfully all clear). Can you imagine?
Eventually I was referred to a menopause specialist – and at last, I started to get the answers I needed. But why had it taken so long? And why had it been so difficult and frustrating to get help?
That's why I started Second Spring Nutrition – to provide other women with the menopause help I struggled to find. I use everything I’ve learned as a specialist dietitian with 30 years’ experience, and a PhD in nutrition. Because I know eating well in menopause can make a big difference to how we feel and what we can go on to achieve.
The power of food - and the psychology of eating - are so important. And the science proves it. And yes, you deserve to be living life to the full right now. (Not spending every day feeling frazzled, achy and like you’ve lost your mojo.)
In fact, 'Second Spring' is what they call menopause in Japan. This stage of midlife is embraced. Women are celebrated for our strength and. wisdom. Isn’t that exactly how it should be?
Hearing my clients’ wonderful progress is so rewarding.
I've helped countless women transform their eating habits and reclaim their health. That’s why I know this is possible for you too. With the right support (that’s rarely available through the NHS, if it’s menopause and weight gain you’re suffering with) change IS possible. Right now, I feel healthier than I did in my 30s. (Yes, really!)
That’s even if you have a busy lifestyle. And always in a way that’s sustainable (that
you can keep up!). Everyone’s story is different, and I have a unique toolkit of ways to help you find you again.
If you're ready to discover how nutrition can be the answer to your menopause weight loss (so you can stop worrying about your health and start feeling fabulous) I’m so happy that you’ve found me.
